Ready for the Reproach of Christ?

DSC_7922

Carl Trueman has an excellent post, well-worth the read, on the choice that may be facing us as evangelicals with regard to the rapid advance of the homosexual movement:

Goodbye, Larry King; Hello, Jerry Springer

In a day in which we can expect a continued rush to surrender on the part of the mainline churches (as they’ve managed to do on most other cultural issues), the pressures will be enormous on the church of Jesus Christ to capitulate at the risk of losing prestige in contemporary society. We’ll be called “bigots” (we already are), “haters”, “intolerant” (yep, I’ll confess to that one), etc. Is the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of American approval (see Hebrews 11:26)? If it isn’t, we’re wasting our time…

You raise an interesting issue. It seems very familiar to arguments made in the South around 50 years ago regarding previous intolerance and bigotry issues.

Thanks for posting, Ed; gotta give me a little more info as to where you’re going with this one. Happy to reason with you on this one!
