The Emperor of "Self-Esteem"…
has no clothes. I’ve been saying this for a lot of years now, after reading John MacArthur’s excellent The Sufficiency of Christ, and frankly, after just reading…the Bible! It’s all right there, and the agonized hermeneutics I’ve seen employed to suggest that Christians ought to concern themselves with the “self-esteem” of teenagers and children would be laughable if it weren’t tragic. Now, for another witness, here’s psychologist John Rosemond saying what he’s been saying for years: the “emperor” has no clothes.
Living with Children
Our problem, according to Jesus and the Scriptures, is that we think too highly of ourselves, not too lowly; there’s never been a person alive who has hated himself/herself. Not one. Ever. To say otherwise is to contradict both the Bible and common sense. I thank John for pointing this out.
