Basically someone annoyed with his views on homosexuality while he was a senator created a scatological website in his “honor” and a hoard of like minded folks are keeping that the #1 hit on google for “Santorum”. I’m not sure how much he can do about it other than recruit his own supporters to bring his own site to #1 in popularity.

But ultimately, the 2012 battle is not between the Obama and the perfect candidate, but between Obama and whoever the Republicans choose.

For me, in December 2005, when we were electing the Conservative leader, I voted for David Davis rather than the winner, David Cameron. But I just had to accept that ultimately it wouldn’t be Davis walking through the door of Number 10 in May 2010, but either Cameron or the Labour leader (and yes, I hope that when Cameron decides to step down, Davis replaces him). Although Cameron annoys me at times, he was better than the alternative on offer- Labour.

Does he still have a google problem? (answer is yes, although it is less pronounced now that he’s a frontrunner, so the real question is will his google problem hurt him?)

As you pointed out, Romney is a uniting figure in the general election, but Santorum? Will non-conservatives vote for Santorum over Obama or a 3rd party candidate?

Rick Perry is at least charming…
