I am kid’s church director and pre-teen Sunday school teacher at our local church. I am also retired special-ed. Our broken families with absent fathers leave our young turning to such “pop” stars that will fail them miserably as heroes. I hadn’t realised until today, when I bought a guide to next week’s TV programmes and looked at the letters in it, that one channel (ITV) had cancelled its coverage of Armed Forces Day (27 June) so it could do a Michael Jackson grief-a-thon (as I call the OTT mourning of celebrities).

A strange set of priorities indeed..
