Thanks, Joe, for reaffirming one of the things I mentioned: "when conservatives have attempted to offer rational arguments, these have been met in kind by liberals who employ ad hominem attacks, red herrings, and emotion-based argumentation". You said we conservatives are "delusional", that we believe we're "infallible", and that we're essentially paranoid--all in your second sentence! In sentence three, you call us "uneducated", "stubborn", and that we refuse to cooperate with "anyone". Shoot, just call us "poopy-pants", and you'll pretty much have covered all the bases! So...calling names is difficult? As I said, it's easy being liberal.

Further, your "global perspective" nicely illustrates my point about eschewing deep thinking--that's about as superficial a treatment of the subject as I can imagine, truthfully. I'm not even sure what to make of your next paragraphs, but suffice it to say that I'm not sure you make your point very well. That said, thanks for posting!

You really think it's easier being a liberal? It's a lot easier being a delusional conservative under the impression that they're infallible and the rest of the world is wrong about everything and out to get them. It's no secret by now that uneducated people tend to lean to the right, same group are stubborn and refuse to co-operate with anyone.

Take a lesson from a global perspective; Western/Central/Northern Europe, Canada, Australia, blue states (USA) some of the greatest and most liberal places in the world. People from pretty much everywhere immigrate to these areas.

Middle East and Asia, Africa, South America, Easten Europe, red states (USA) and Central America. All conservative, all places people move away from.

In a liberal society each person is supported and encouraged to live their lives the way they want to, but conservatives always emphasize the social aspect of it all. Social programs are intended to help the sick, the lame and people who can't get jobs. It's not fair punishing everyone because a large group abuses the system. Not to mention that red states take just as much money (if not more). And of course blue states are the ones bringing a profit to the government, red states just take, and take but never give back.

And finally the defense. Over 600 billion, more than the next 12 countries COMBINED. With all that high tech military stuff all conservatives do is attack sand people and other third world countries.

Conservatives don't have a leg to stand on, you're a dying breed, and the world will be a much better place ones the US turns liberal and joins the rest of the western world in good sanity.

I think you have got it correct about socialists (and I hate the way that socialists have hijacked the term "liberal"- as our Government is demonstrating, genuine liberals realise their natural partners are conservatives, not socialists)- often, if I am discussing something with one of them, a response will be of the I-am-offended-that-you-believe-that variety, rather than a serious discussion of issues.

I was watching a documentary some time back about the way that the Incapacity Benefit system is abused- most people on it are capable of work. Any detailed analysis of how it is abused can be answered with the plaintive cry of "leave sick people alone", rather than asking if they are genuinely too ill to work.
