Heterosexuality is a creation ordinance, and part of the universal moral law -- so the fact that we're not a theocracy doesn't put it under the Levitical covenant. And homosexuality isn't a private matter when God kills whole societies for engaging in it.
Like I said, I don't go out of my way to keep them from living the lifestyle they want to live but I'm also not going to go out of my way to help them do it.

The "freedoms" they seek are not essential to their survival, and giving them the ability to be more comfortable with their lifestyle feels like "enabling" them to continue in it. That's my conscience, though.

I don't like being lumped in with religious crazies any more than you do, but the reality is that some folks do exactly that and anything short of coming around to their way of thinking is probably not going to change it.

Sure, the Rosie O'Donnells and their ilk are truly obnoxious, but I wouldn't lump all homosexuals into her category any more than I like to be lumped in with Pat Robertson's craziness, or Benny Hinn the Shyster, or Joel Osteen. Further, the "homosexual lobby" has been pushing the envelope on some things for years. But as a general principle, why shouldn't all Americans enjoy as much freedom as is reasonably possible?

Well, I’ll confess I’m not a champion of rights for homosexuals. Do I go out of my way to try to make sure they’re not granted any rights – no – but if I have a choice between voting for them to have more rights than they currently have and leaving things the way they are I’m not really motivated to help them out. If they feel they’re discriminated against, well, that’s not my fight. I have more sympathy, for example, for the Boy Scouts than for those who are filing suit against them because of their stance on homosexuality.

I feel this way about it; they’ve managed to gain rights they didn’t have 20-30 years ago – if they get enough people to see things their way I will respect the will of the people and abide by the law – I won’t be one of those people who carries signs with insulting sayings, yelling at people who don’t agree with me with hate in my heart and on my face because they got their way and got a law passed.

We live in a day and age when (if you are someone in the public eye) you’re expected to apologize publicly for a comment that offends homosexuals; but someone like Rosie O’Donnell can say anything she likes about Christians – where’s her apology? I don’t like double standards; that’s hypocrisy at its worst, so I’m not going to bear the burden of feeling guilty about whatever it is they want that they don’t have.
