So I Was Wr…Wr…Not Exactly, Totally Right

Of course, Rick Perry will not be the next president. In fact, since he apparently knows when to hold ’em, and more importantly right now, when to fold ’em, he will no longer be in the race 48 hours from now. Michelle Bachmann, apparently at this point, lacks such knowledge…

But in one sense, of course, I was…closer to right. Conceptually, I was right, just had the wrong guy, of course, as Rick Santorum proved to be—out of the absolute blue, of course—the person who grabbed the mantle of “not Romney and not Paul”. Now, can he sustain that momentum? Remains to be seen. Paul is a non-factor long-term, as I’ve long argued. Romney’s front-running status was enhanced last night, but he’s not the inevitable nominee, given the “Romney Ceiling”, given the obvious fact that conservative Republicans en masse don’t trust him, though I think most of them find him an acceptable alternative to Obama.

So all of that said…go, Rick!

We’re similar in that when I’m wrong I’m usually right too. 🙂

Bachman is hoping for a VP nod later. Does staying in give her an advantage toward that end? I have no idea.

I have 2 questions for considering before jumping on the Santorum bandwagon:

Does he still have a google problem? (answer is yes, although it is less pronounced now that he’s a frontrunner, so the real question is will his google problem hurt him?)

As you pointed out, Romney is a uniting figure in the general election, but Santorum? Will non-conservatives vote for Santorum over Obama or a 3rd party candidate?

Rick Perry is at least charming…

Rick Perry could be the next President if Obama gets a second term and Perry wins in 2016..

But ultimately, the 2012 battle is not between the Obama and the perfect candidate, but between Obama and whoever the Republicans choose.

For me, in December 2005, when we were electing the Conservative leader, I voted for David Davis rather than the winner, David Cameron. But I just had to accept that ultimately it wouldn’t be Davis walking through the door of Number 10 in May 2010, but either Cameron or the Labour leader (and yes, I hope that when Cameron decides to step down, Davis replaces him). Although Cameron annoys me at times, he was better than the alternative on offer- Labour.

I am with Blake as long as Santorum has google issues, he isn’t getting a vote from me.

Please, somebody explain the term “Google Issue”. I really am not sure what it means…

I was wondering the same, but googled “google issue santorum”. Basically someone annoyed with his views on homosexuality while he was a senator created a scatological website in his “honor” and a hoard of like minded folks are keeping that the #1 hit on google for “Santorum”. I’m not sure how much he can do about it other than recruit his own supporters to bring his own site to #1 in popularity.
