How Stupid Can Republicans Be

I have said many times that polls this far out don’t matter a whole lot, and they don’t, insofar as the general election is concerned. But this poll, taken as it was just a few short weeks before the beginning of the primary season, and because of its startling results, does matter—and what it means, if it holds, is that I will not be voting for a Republican in 2012. I don’t even know who the Libertarians are running for president, but I’m penciling LP in right now for my vote. I reiterate: I will not vote for Newt Gingrich for president. Period. End of story. And I firmly believe that nominating him will ensure four more years of Barack Obama. Now, I’ve been wrong before, and strange things can happen in presidential politics, but Newt has so, so much baggage that, his tremendous intellect notwithstanding, he is a bad choice as the Republican nominee.

How stupid can Republicans be to nominate him…

They seem to get dumber and dumber[er]. So glad I left the party at the turn of the century.

I am constantly amazed on a daily basis at how stupid republicans can be, to be honest. I agree completely about Newt Gingrich. He loves to talk about morals, but doesn’t seem to have any. He left one wife (he’s been married what, four times?) while she was sick with cancer, and was one of the people at the center of trying to have President Clinton impeached for having an affair while he himself was having an affair at that exact point in time. Apparently, what he and other right wing hypocrites saw as a reason President Clinton should not be president isn’t a good enough reason for him not to be. To be honest, I’ll never vote Republican, no matter who gets the nomination, I have a real dislike of hypocrisy, hypocrites, and double standards. Plus, the republican party does nothing for someone like me, I’m not rich.

I also feel that voting for any republican candidate would amount to voting against my own best interests, not only because republicans seem interested only in helping those who are well off financially, but also because I do not share their beliefs. I am not interested in any organized religion, I do not agree with the notion that being involved in one religion over another would make me better than anyone else, and I do not believe that the bible should be taken literally (since there are no such things as talking bushes or snakes, and turning water into wine amounts to magic, which is not real). I also don’t feel the need to discriminate against the LBGT community, people from other countries or make broad assumptions about all Muslims or any other group of people. In short, I am not a self righteous and egotistical person who believes himself to always be right about everything. Oh, and I try not to be a hypocrite. I believe those to be legitimate reasons not to be, or ever vote for a republican. Those who disagree, you have a right to your opinion, just don’t assume that your opinion means anything to me. You know the old saying about opinions, right? I won’t repeat it here.
