A Cool Coincidence

Football surpassed baseball in the mid-90’s as my favorite sport; combination of the fact that I just came to enjoy football more and more, and the fact that baseball is run by a dog’s breakfast of the ignorant, the greedy, and the self-important.
Which makes it fitting that the NFL season kicks off on my 50th birthday. Some of you may remember the fact that the old AFL kicked off on the day I was born, September 9, 1960, with a game between the Buffalo Bills and the Denver Broncos.
