'Bout as Good a Reason as Any to Vote Libertarian

Earmarks are the scourge…wait, I’ve overspoken…one of the many scourges of Washington politics.  This article contains a list that makes me sick:

The Bacon Bringers

Note who the biggest earmarkers are: of course, we all knew that Porky Byrd would be at, or at least near, the top of the list.  Driving through West Virginia, the landscape is littered with the “Robert Byrd This” and the “Robert Byrd That”, mute testimonials to the man’s ability to scarf as much of the public dole up as possible for useless projects in his home state.  But note further: five of the top ten earmarkers are Republicans.  There’s little difference in the spending habits of the two major parties.  How can anyone keep a straight face while listening to any of these bozos talk about fiscal responsibility.

The definition of insanity is continuing to do the same thing over and over, but expecting different results.  Want to keep voting for Republicans or Democrats?   Be my guest.  And I won’t rule out voting for a Republican in the future (it ought to go without saying that under no circumstances will I vote for a Democrat), but…but if we just assume that one party is better on fiscal responsibility than the other, well, the facts just don’t seem to line up with the rhetoric.  And for all its perceived shortcomings (most of which, I submit, disappear upon further, open-minded inspection), the Libertarian Party would not stand for spending America into oblivion.
