Why So Many Churches Hear So Little of the Bible
Mark Galli hits the nail on the head with this quote:
“It is well and good for the preacher to base his sermon on the Bible, but he better get to something relevant pretty quickly, or we start mentally to check out.” That stunningly clear sentence reflects one of the most amazing, tragic, and lamentable characteristics of contemporary Christianity – an impatience with the Word of God.
If we lose the Word, we lose the faith.
“For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions.” – 2 Timothy 4:3
Yep, a good New Testament example of the same thing.
