Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D-Pyongyang) is proposing…ready for this? In AmeriKa, Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D-Ho Chi Minh City) wants to establish a…ready? I’m gonna tell ya! Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D-Beijing) wants the United States of America to establish a…“Reasonable Profits Board”. And you thought Marxism was dead…

Meanwhile, something called the National Student Genderblind Campaign thinks it’s a swell idea to get college guys and gals, not just in the same dormitory (no, that’d be so 1980s), but in the same dorm room. What’s more, several universities are signing off on this harebrained idea, including (not surprisingly, I suppose) Stanford University. Yippee, skippy, moms and dads! Now we can send our adolescents off to Stanford confident that they won’t even have to leave the comfort of their own dorm rooms to…well, to do whatever.

Question: if you were given the choice of educating your child at a place like that, or having them remain blissfully ignorant, which would you prefer? Know what I’d choose…

A “Reasonable Profits Board” is ridiculous, though I can understand the desire for some sort of price regulations on products like fuel for which demand is largely inelastic (regardless of price, you have to buy it).

MSNBC recently had a pretty good article on coed dorm rooms.

I can respect how gay students may be uncomfortable living with someone of the same sex, but I think that’s good reason to seek a single dorm room, or find off-campus coed housing if you must. Beyond that, I can’t understand why this is appropriate. While they both say the rooms aren’t intended for romantic couples, I wonder how many will try it out, only to find they can’t stand their roommates after a few months?

I can understand the desire, as can you, but the results of price regulations is, well, disastrous.
