Clinton Calls on Bush to Boycott Olympics Opening Ceremonies

Granted, it’s hard not to see this as typical political gamesmanship, but nonetheless, I think Mrs. Bill is on target. Of course, were I the Prez, I’d also point out China’s “one child” policy, which often leads to abortions and even genocide, and ask the Clinton and Obama-types to condemn that as well.

…and it’s not too good on religious freedom either.

Quite right to boycott it. Yesterday saw the bizarre scenes of the Olympic Torch making its way through London, amid all the protests about China.

I am not a big fan of the “we don’t bring politics into sport” lobby. A very good point I saw made today was that the Chinese Government has brought politics into the Olympics already, by trying to use the Games to show that it is accepted by the “international community” and that the rest of the world approves of its actions.
